Surly's Soap Box

An end to the end of surliness...
I've decided to continue changing my tone rather than my name. It's kind of a hip and edgy move: People will think, "That guy sez he's 'surly', but he's not!", or, "Dave is the least surliest guy I know. What's up with the nickname?"

Hey, ya have a couple weeks of soul searching and you think about making changes. But enough of the introspection: I have a blog to tend to, and that means opinions to opine, observations to make, and stuff like that.

Gone, however, will be the Bastard Report and beating Garrison Keillor with a golf club. Well, unless he really deserves it.

Bonnie Raitt was on the Garrison Keillor radio show tonight. She sang "Angel From Montgomery," which I believe was written by John Prine. She has a lovely voice. She is one of the rare few who doesn't seem to have let fame go to her head. Maybe I'm just not paying attention. Anyway, people were not created to be worshipped. People who are worshipped tend to become narcissistic idols. Oh yeah, that's the most popular show on TV. I've never seen it. I have enough idols to deal with as it is.

Good night, Dave.

I bet if the Apostle Paul was blogging prior to his conversion he would have gone with Surly Saul. We'll just keep you in our prayers and know that God will lead those who need to hear your words to your site. Instead of beating people over the head with your own word; beat them over the head with the word of God. My last pastor was a man that over all others I've probably admired most in my life; I use to tell people that he's the only guy I know who could hit me straight between the eyes with his hard messages, and do it with such love that you could only thank him for it. I think that's how you'll come off.
